Meet Some Good Peeps: Heather Jones

Time to meet another of our wonderful craftspeople. Today we'll talk to Heather Jones of Kelp Me! Your nostrils will get a workout sniffing all her products because they all smell some good.

So Heather....

Q: Where are you from?

A: Twillingate, NL

Q: Why do you do what you do?

A: I got hooked on the idea of homesteading and started doing everything from raising chickens to making soap .. the chickens are gone, but the soap stuck with me!

Q: Who/what inspires you (in relation to your craft)?

A:  I'm inspired by undersea life and my wandering imagination... and mermaids.

Q: What is your favourite part of your craft/process ? What takes the longest?

A: Creating new products .. especially new soaps. I use natural pigments and oxides for colour and effect and its always a bit of a surprise to see the end result!

Q: What do you think craft means to NL?

A: It is the people of this rock that make it shine ... it is through our craft and art that we make it sparkle! (cheesy but true!)

Q: Words to live by?

A:  I can't think of a really epic quote right now so I'll just list the best words in the English language: respect, compassion, courage, chocolate.

Q: Have you received any awards for your craft?

A: Yes. Craft Council Award for Best New Emerging Craftsperson/ Artist, Youth Ventures Venture of the Year Award, Agricultural Integrity Award, and a couple of others from Youth Ventures when I started up.

Q: Do you have any pets?

A: Maggie- goat, Boots - Beagle, Woody - NL Pony, Gypsy - Black cat
